As a Product Expert (m/f/d), you will be responsible for oversight of Single-Axis Trackers and Fixed-Tilt racking systems which equip our large utility-scale solar PV Projects in EMEA / APAC. This includes evaluating and qualifying commercially available products and -supporting our EPC contract execution teams to ensure that the proposed solutions fulfil all requirements in terms of technical performance, quality, timeline and cost.
  • Be the key technical contact within the JUWI EMEA / APAC organization and with the suppliers of rack systems with a high focus on trackers, fixed-tilt rack systems and agri-voltaic systems.
  • Evaluate and benchmark the electro-mechanical design of systems and components.
  • Obtain and maintain a product portfolio for internal stakeholders.
  • Issue specifications to reflect the requirements from expected quality level and contractual obligations.
  • Request, review and approve all necessary documentation from suppliers including:
- Static and dynamic loading reports
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) reports
- Drawings and schematics
- Functional analysis of tracking algorithms
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) reports
- Certifications and 3rd party evaluation reports
- Quality Assurance plans and Quality Test Plans
- Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance manuals
  • Supervise in-field reliability and durability testing of racking and tracking system components at multiple JUWI test facilities
  • Ensure continuous improvement of quality assurance processes both internal at JUWI and at suppliers in cooperation with supplier quality management department
  • Support the execution of EPC contracts with regard to racking systems including
- Liaison between the engineering project team based in different offices in the EMEA / APAC      region and the suppliers to provide technical support during PV plant design
- Frequent visits to supplier facilities to supervise progress of manufacturing and inspect quality of products in cooperation with supplier quality management department.
- Ensure products shipped to construction site conform to expectations in cooperation with supplier quality management department
- Liaison between the construction team on the PV plant site to provide engineering and quality assurance support during construction
- Training of construction team or external service provider to ensure high quality workmanship according to installation and commissioning manuals.
- Organize and supervise on mock-up and site acceptance tests of the rack systems
- Support the post EPC and O&M teams on site in debugging and troubleshooting problems related to the systems in the field

Your Profile

  • B.Eng Degree in Civil / Mechanical / Structural Engineering
  • Professional registration Engineer
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience
  • Strong background in Engineering Mechanics, Stress Analysis and static calculation methodologies
  • Conversant with AutoCAD Inventor Nastran In-CAD or similar FEA package required to create and verify FEA reports
  • Proven experience using Eurocode standards relevant to mechanics, especially 1,3 and 6.
  • Understanding of dynamic analysis reports such as CFD reports
  • Good communication skills, able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally
  • Experience of working autonomously, as the position requires leadership, decision making and problem solving
  • Fluent in English
  • Demonstrable ability to work in matrix organizations and to operate in a culturally diverse international environment
  • Team player with demonstrable leadership qualities
  • Experience in designing or evaluating tracker and fixed-tilt systems for Solar PV plants
  • Being familiar with the relevant standards and codes (Australian AS, American ASCE, South African SANS)
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance)
  • Experience of DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DFA (Design for Assembly) techniques
  • Experience in failure analysis and/or root cause analysis
  • Experience on construction sites
  • Background in materials science and metal finishing processes
  • Regular national and international travel will be required in line with business requirements
  • In addition to the duties mentioned above, the job holder is required to carry out other duties that are in essence part of his area of activity, according to his knowledge and abilities.
