MVV is investing in wind energy in the Hochsauerland region

The location: Area used for forestry
Both wind farms are located in forested areas in Olsberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, and lie approximately 8.5 kilometers from each other. The Olsberg-Mannstein and Olsberg-Antfeld projects were commissioned ten months apart and were both planned and implemented by JUWI, a company fully owned by MVV.

Windfarm Olsberg-Mannstein
The 24-megawatt wind farm in Olsberg-Mannstein went into operation in September 2024. The seven Vestas V126 wind turbines have a rated output of 3.45 MW each and a hub height of 137 meters. Built on previously damaged areas of a spruce forest, the wind farm generates electricity for around 25,000 households annually, making an important contribution to the energy transition in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Windfarm Olsberg-Antfeld
Ten months after the Olsberg-Mannstein wind farm went into operation, the 22-MW wind farm in Olsberg-Antfeld also began operating in July 2025. The four General Electric (GE) 5.5-158 wind turbines have a rated output of around 5.5 MW each . With a hub height of 161 meters and a total height of 240 meters, the turbines supply electricity for around 23,000 households annually. The wind farm was also built on a forest area.
